Construction at St Lukes, Rochford was completed in December 2009, two months ahead of schedule.  The 14 home scheme has been built to provide specialist accommodation for young adults with learning difficulties.  The building was renamed on completion Ken Start House in recognition of the former Chief Executive of Springboard Housing Association who had pioneered the scheme from its inception

Located on the grounds of the former Rochford Hospital the scheme fell within the conservation area and therefore had strict parameters on its look.  Logic Homes had previously built Johnson Court on another part of the hospital site with similar restrictions.  This allowed for the architects, E&M Design to produce a building that fulfilled the requirements of the future tenants and the conservation officers.

Constructed using traditional building methods by Allenbuild SE the homes are spread over 2 storeys with a communal lounge and carer’s over night accommodation incorporated.  The homes also have access to a central courtyard which has maximised the space within the building.

The scheme is managed by Genesis Housing Group.  Speaking at the official opening in December 2009 Ken Start said ‘this is all about people, about making lives change for the better. It’s a wonderful scheme and I look forward to seeing everyone move in.’

Reducing risk ...that's Logic
