Genesis Housing Group
In an increasingly competitive housing market, Genesis is implementing an ambitious and innovative strategy for building more quality homes.
Their ability to deliver a significant development programme quickly and efficiently is recognised by Genesis being awarded £138.9 million in the Housing Corporation's National Affordable Housing Programme 2006/08 receiving the highest allocation in the country.
Steve Coleman, Genesis Group Development Director attributes some of their success to the £160 million landbank that has been built up.
"We take an entrepreneurial approach to the business of buying land and building homes. We have the capacity to make decisions quickly and partner with businesses from a range of sectors. We know where we want to go and how we will get there," Steve said. "In the past year existing partnerships have grown and new relationships flourished. Genesis launched the largest procurement framework agreement of its kind in 2006 which brings together over 100 companies. Through this framework agreement a platform has been laid that will further reduce costs and increase their efficiency."
Their success in procurement was reinforced by Genesis being a finalist in the Housing Corporation's prestigious Gold Awards in the 'Innovation in Procurement' category. They were short listed for their work in setting up Logic Homes (formerly) Gentect Homes. The judges congratulated Genesis and the Logic Homes' partners on their "commitment, togetherness, enthusiasm, clarity, action, results and potential."
Genesis is making a significant contribution to meeting the affordable housing shortage. They aim to build at least 1,500 homes a year and as a result they have an increasing sales programme, including outright sale.
