Sept 10 - Station Lane Pitsea, Event

On Friday 17 September, Stephen Metcalfe MP for Basildon South & Thurrock, Councillor Tony Ball, leader of Basildon District Council and Stephen Woolridge, Chairman of Springboard HA joined Logic Homes and other guests to bury a time capsule to mark the launch of the re-development of the Old Dairy site at Pitsea in Basildon, Essex to create 120 new affordable homes.

The capsule contained a range of relevant historical information e.g. a copy of the Times Newspaper, Logic Homes Brochure and Genesis Annual Report.  It also contained pictures of the site from the past 100 years, the site before development and CGI images of the completed scheme for future generations.

The scheme is due to be completed in March 2012 and will provide 120 homes. Thirty-nine one-bedroom flats and 91 two-bedroom flats. There will be 39 for general needs rent for people over 55s, 56 homes for shared ownership, 25 for intermediate rent. There will also be a communal shared space, a café and five commercial units.

Construction of the 1.6 acre site began on 26 March 2010 following the granting of planning permission by Basildon District Council in December 2009 and was awarded £4.965m grant funding from the HCA. The development was designed by bptw partnership, will be constructed by Allenbuild SE Ltd, and will be owned and managed by Genesis Housing Group; all founding shareholders in Logic Homes Ltd.

Gail Newton, Managing Director of Logic Homes, said “The success of this venture is due to the collaborative approach of Logic Homes Ltd, and its shareholders, working closely with Basildon District Council and the Homes and Communities Agency. The designs ensure the new homes will be of high quality and sustainable, which is central to the regeneration of Pitsea”.
